The good news is our brains can change so controlling anxiety is possible!
Neuroplasticity is defined as the brains ability to change. It was just discovered in 1998! It tells us that the brain tunes itself into our needs. Now the question is how that can be done as it relates to anxiety relief.
Anxiety is something I have had since I was 4 years old. I will not go in detail about why but it is sufficient to say I know how to deal with it from a personal and a professional level.
First thing we need to do is to see if what we are thinking is true or not.
The other thing we need to look at is… are we a fault finder? Do we find fault in lots of what we experience in life? This needs to change. Not that we are to be a person with their head in the sand but one who sees the true reality of life.
There is good and bad all around us.
This is something I really focus on when working with the people I support.
The other trait that can drive anxiety is perfectionism. We need to look at developing a healthy pursuit of excellence not perfectionism. We need to give ourselves credit for the things we have done not discount them.
